Post Processing

NX CAM includes a post builder capability that allows users to create their own post processors. The NX CAM Postbuilder has an easy to use graphical interface with simple menu selections with drag and drop functionality to build a post.

Users specify parameters for the required NC codes and machine tool kinematics required to interpret the internal NX toolpath. The NX CAM Post Builder can also create the software driver required for the 3D machine tool simulation. This allows the NX machine tool simulation to run directly off the NX post processor output.

NX Advantages:

  • Creates machine ready NC code that requires little or no editing by the NC programmer or the machine tool operator, thus reducing lead-times and error rates.
  • Generates NC programming documentation for machine tool operators quickly and without errors.
  • Supports complex machine tools, such as right angle heads, merging lathes, grinding machines and five axis machine tools with non-orthogonal axes.

Post Processor Library

The NX CAM Post Processor Library is an online resource that contains a variety of posts that support machines ranging from 2-axis through complex 5-axis and mill turn combinations.

The Post Processor library can be accessed directly via a pull down menu in NX CAM. Users with a valid webkey account can then log into the Global Technical Access Center (GTAC) website to access the Post Processor Library

Many of these post processors are available for immediate download. Others may be shown as available through your local Siemens PLM Software representative or value added partner.

  • Reduces the time or costs associated with creating your own post processors.
  • Allows you to benefit from post processors already developed for other customers.
  • Enables fast implementation of NX CAM.
